H&FW deptt clarifies fraud allegations

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Department of Health & Family clarified that the amount of Rs 375.84 lakhs sanctioned as Grant-in-aid to the State AIDS Control Society under the National AIDS Control Programme vide Demand Draft N0 022595 Dated July 3, 2006 and another separate sanction amounting to Rs 433.42 lakhs vide Demand Draft No 022573 dated July 3, 2006 were released as grant in aid to the SACS under Global Fund Round II & IV Projects. 

Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, H&FW Imkonglemba stated that however, before the DDs were received the attempted fraud was exposed and the NSACS accordingly alerted and all possible steps were taken to foil any such attempted encashment by the miscreant.

It was also clarified that the allegations made by the accused of having connivance with the officials of the NSACS and the Minister of Health & Family Welfare has no substance. “But since the case is now sub-judice pending for investigation as per FIR filed with the police, no further comments are necessary except to assure that the miscreants involved in the crime will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law” the Secretary stated.  

Secretary Imkonglemba also assured to the various NGOs member representatives that the government will take-up the issue and also see that the Rs 3.6 Crore fraud issue does not hamper the normal activities of the NGOs. Sources from the NGO who met government agencies today here at the State Capital informed. The meeting also guaranteed the member representatives that the government will take its own course and see that the accused Richard Humtsoe is being penalized according to the law. 

Madam Neidunuo, Former President Naga Mother’s Association (NMA) expressed her discontentment over the attempted fraud of Rs. 3, 75, 84, 000 meant for NSACS from NACO for HIV/AIDS programmes in the state while appreciating the quality of the work done by the bank employees. “Its high time we come out with the truth” commented the former president of NMA and continued that whoever is involved in that particular fraud case should be tackled seriously.
