Kiphire, January 27 (MExN): The Divisional Forest Office, Kiphire cum DMU was inaugurated by Minister, Soil & Moisture Conservation, V Kashiho Sangtam. The office was constructed under ongoing Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) assisted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Minister V Kashiho Sangtam, in his speech raised the concern of high jhum intensity in Kiphire detrimental to the forest and wildlife. He told that due to hunting in the past many of the wildlife has disappeared from the district. He urged the Forest Department for extensive intervention in villages to reduce the dependency on the forest resources.
Atsase Thongtsar, OSD, Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change also raised concerns of encroachment of purchased land in States, and requested the departmental official to co-ordinate with district administration in protecting the purchased land through necessary documents.
While giving her speech, Rongsenlemla Imchen, IFS, CF (NTC) acknowledged the efforts of the departmental officials for the construction works, she sought the cooperation of the community for the implementation of the schemes implemented by the department.
Rajesh Kumar, DFO Kiphire in his keynote address has informed the completion of construction activities undertaken in Nagaland Forest Management Project(NFMP).Under this , Office of Divisional Forest Officer, Range Forest Office, two Forester Quarters, two Forest Guard quarters has been built.
Siechutho Katiry, ADMU Head, Kiphire DMU, Chairman of the inaugural function welcomed all the members present including District Administration, Police and all other departmental official present on this occasion.
Plantation was also done by all the dignitaries to mark the occasion. The function concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Bendangtemsu, FMU Head Kiphire.
