WOKHA, JANUARY 14 (MExN): Highlanders defended and retained their Championship at the 28th Winter Cricket Challenge organised by Senior Noble Klan under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association in association with Forest Division Wokha.

The final match was played between LCYO and Highlanders. LCYO won the toss and opted to bat first and set a target of 103 runs in 20 overs losing all the wickets. The top scorers were Rendemo 11, Renben Kikon 10, Renjanthung 10, Epithung 15 and Thechamo 13. 

While chasing the target, the top order batsman of Highlanders collapsed but the 3rd down batsman and 4th down batsman in the form of Asif and Mughavi. Who were unbeaten at 46 and 38 respectively and went on the lift the trophy. Asif was adjudged the Man of the Match Final for his quick fire of 46 runs and for claiming 2 wickets while blowing. Asif was also adjudged the man of the tournament for his all-round performance with the bat and ball. He scored 141 runs and claimed 8 wickets in total. 

The champions walked away with a cash prize of 1 lakh sponsored by Senior Noble Klan , certificates, a trophy along tree saplings. The runner-up walked away with a cash price of 50k along with certificates and tree saplings.

The man of the tournament walked away with a certificate and an android phone sponsored by Kumchen Mury and Mhajan Patton was adjudged the best upcoming cricketer who walked away with a kit bag sponsored by Base Strong (BS), Cricket kit manufacturer, Meerut.
