Himato projects bright future of AYUSH doctors in Nagaland

  Our Correspondent Kohima | June 21 The State Level Training of Trainers (ToT) for orientation of ASHAs/ANMs to the potential of AYUSH and state level seminar on yoga & naturopathy got underway here today under the Nagaland State AYUSH Mission Society, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland under the auspices of National AYUSH Mission. It also commemorated 4th International Day of Yoga 2018.   Speaking on the occasion as special invitee, I. Himato Zhimomi, Commissioner Secretary for Health & Family Welfare said the Government of India is keen to develop AYUSH. Zhimomi said that he perceived the bright future of AYUSH doctors in the state. Referring to the training and seminar programmes, he stressed on the need to access the right knowledge and communicate to the people in the right way.   Later, Zhimomi released a manual book for ASHAs/ANMS on general wellness & common ailments including diabetes mellitus through AYUSH.   Dr. T. Bendangtula, Assistant Director (AYUSH), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare said that 75 AYUSH doctors including 11 district community mobilizers registered for this training programme, which will go on till Saturday. After the completion of the training, they will go back to their respective place of posting and involve in the training programme of some 1800 ASHAs and 38 ANMs across the state.   She said the Government of India has been taking a lot of initiatives for promotion of AYUSH in the country.   Bendangtula said that National Health Mission has recruited about 77 AYUSH doctors and assigned for different programmes in Nagaland. She requested the department to give their constant support to AYUSH so that we can partner together and reach out to the community. She said the participants would join Yoga session on June 22 at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare between 8:00 to 9:00 AM. She also requested the presence of commissioner and secretary and other officers from the directorate to this Yoga session.   Rev. Fr. Dr. P. Suresh Innocent, principal Don Bosco College, Kohima prayed for the inaugural programme while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Seyiekhrietuo John, SPO & State Nodal Officer, National AYUSH Mission.
