Morung Express News Dimapur | January 21 RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that Hindutva is one thing that has united Indians despite so much diversity and differences in the country, and that the ‘greatness’ of Hindutva lies in the fact that it accepts and respects all diversity. “Hindutva accepts diversity, not divisions. That is why India is a Hindu Rashtra,” Bhagwat contended, stated a report from the Times News Network. He was addressing ‘Luitporiya Hindu Samavesh’ in Guwahati, a conclave organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was attended by over 50,000 people, including over 35,000 swayamsevaks from the North East, reported IANS. The Deccan Chronicle reported that apart from senior RSS leaders, joint general secretary V Bhagaiah, Krishna Gopal Sharma and Dattatreya Hosabole, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, his minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and ex chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta were also present. It reported that 20 titular tribal kings — Karbi, Naga, Khasi, Hajong, Tiwa, Garo, Jayantiya, Mising and Hajong — and more than 10 chiefs of Vaishnavite monasteries of Assam attended the rally. “Hindutva accepts all schools of thoughts and accepts everyone that comes to its fold,” the RSS chief said, according to IANS. “If one loses his links with Hindutva, he is bound to lose his links with India,” he said. Referring to Pakistan, Bhagwat said that after partition “India has forgotten its enmity with Pakistan after August 15, 1947, but Pakistan is yet to forget its enmity with India.” “The RSS’s strength is not in showing its strength or to scare anyone but it is for strengthening society. Don’t just remain a spectator, a sympathiser; learn to come down and learn the Sangh culture. Mothers and sisters need to send their sons to RSS shakhas and teach them our vision,” Bhagwat said. According to the Times New Network’s analysis, one of the largest congregations of RSS, organized by the North Assam Zone of the organization, holds significance at a time when Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura going to polls next month. RSS’ North Assam Zone covers Brahmaputra valley, Nagaland and Meghalaya. It further reported that RSS volunteers are working in the Christian majority states of Nagaland and Meghalaya for the promotion of “indigenous faiths.” The BJP too has also been able to make a toehold among the “followers of indigenous faiths” in the two states.
