Dimapur, September 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Congress Committee today strongly reacted to the State BJP unit claims and said that the policy of ‘Hindutva’ cannot compromise with the policy of ‘Secularism’ and that it is a wrong party introduced in a Christian dominated State.
In a counter rejoinder, Vitsorel Lcho, Memebrr of NPCC Media Cell, today said that the State BJP has failed to understand the clarification made by the Congress Party on PM’s Package and Naga Political Issue.
“The Congress reminds the State BJP leaders that during the recent visit of BJP National President, Rajnath Singh to Dimapur, he had admitted that the special package given by the then Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee could not be fulfilled though that package was the highest to be given to a Christian State,” said Lcho from the NPCC Media Cell.
He said that the State BJP leaders should admit in the same line with the BJP National President that the PM’s package could not be fulfilled in the State, which was promised to the people and remained a ‘lip service’.
Replying to the BJP rejoinder which appeared in the local dailies today, the NPCC said that present developmental works which is going on in the State could be made possible only through the generosity of Congress led UPA Government and the State Congress Party is confident of bringing more developmental works through people’s participation.
The NPCC strongly reminded the State BJP leaders that during the last visit of BJP National Spokesperson and Election incharge Nagaland, Rajiv Pratap Rudy to the State, he had stated that NDA would have solved the Naga problem if it had come to power in the last election but his recent visit he accused the “Congress of having sinister designs in the indefinite extension of truce with NSCN-IM terming it as a strategy to gain political mileage ahead of the general election scheduled in February 2008 in the State”.
In this regard, the NPCC suggested the State BJP leaders not to expose their immaturity by supporting the statements made by the ‘BJP National leaders who have no knowledge and concern about the Naga political issue’.
“The Naga political issue is not an issue to be decided by political parties during election time and BJP National leaders who have not contributed anything towards the Naga cause should not talk of Naga political issue just for the sake of gaining political mileage,” the NPCC said.
In this connection the NPCC strongly reminded the State BJP leaders “that the policy of ‘Hindutva’ cannot compromise with the policy of ‘Secularism’ and it is a wrong party introduced in a Christian dominated State”.
