HIPFEST Winners awarded at Kisama

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 10 (MExN): The winners of the Hornbill HIPFEST were felicitated at a brief yet significant official ceremony held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on December 10. The event celebrated the talent and storytelling captured through the lens of this year’s top photographers.

Adela Moa, Director of the Art and Culture Department, graced the event as the special guest. In her address, she congratulated the winners and shared her admiration for the beautiful and evocative photographs on display. “Each of these pictures tells a unique story, allowing visitors to the Hornbill Festival to engage with the rich life, culture, and traditions of the Naga people,” she said. Adela Moa extended gratitude to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) for sponsoring the event and expressed hope for the festival’s continued growth in the years ahead.

During the ceremony, Adela Moa presented winners with certificates and cash prizes. Ato Mor clinched first place in the main category, while Viketso Meyase and Parvej Akhtar secured second and third positions, respectively. They were awarded Rs. 40,000, Rs. 25,000, and Rs. 15,000.

In the specialized award categories, Keyi Putlang was named the winner of the Best Portrait award, while Sashikala Jami took home the Best Landscape Photograph award. Neilar Mepfhuo was declared the winner in the Best Wildlife Photograph category. Each of these winners received Rs. 10,000 and a certificate for their exceptional entries.

Photojournalist Kekhriezhazo Miachieo, speaking on behalf of the judges, noted that the evaluation was based on lighting, depth, and composition. Despite the challenging task of selecting winners from numerous high-quality entries, the judges emphasized that the participants’ efforts were commendable.

Ababe Ezung, Proprietor of Portrait Studio, in his address, lauded all the participants for their passion and contribution. “Everyone here is a winner,” he said. He also expressed gratitude to the Department of IPR for co-hosting the event and hoped the partnership would foster the growth of HIPFEST in future editions.

Participants who have yet to collect their certificates are requested to visit Portrait Studio Dimapur, located near City Tower, to claim their awards.
