Kohima, April 11 (MExN): The Kezieke Youth Organization (KYO) has condemned the hit and run case in which a government vehicle (silver coloured Renault Duster) allegedly ran over a biker at Kezieke Colony here on April 10 around 8:20 pm and sped away.
“Eye witnesses accounted that the vehicle after causing the mishap switched off its headlights and speeded away. Witnesses further informed that the vehicle was coming from PR Hill side widely attracting the attention of people because of over speeding and rough and negligent driving,” stated a press release from KYO President, Neibazotuo Sorhie and General Secretary, Peleneizo Chadi.
The organization has asked the driver/officer concerned in whose name the vehicle is granted, to “come forward and claim responsibility or defend himself before the matter escalates further.” The person concerned may surrender before the police or contact the KYO office bearers at phone numbers 8014999687 or 9856162076, the release added.
Further, KYO expressed regret that accidents, including fatal ones, have become very frequent in the colony due to lack of necessary provisions and infrastructure. As such, it requested the authority to construct raised footpath, railing and speed breakers and streamline traffic regulation in the area at the earliest to save precious lives.
