HIV/AIDS sensitisation prog held at Watiyim

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): Network of Mokokchung District People Living with HIV/AIDS (NMP+) successfully conducted its 26th Bharti Infratel Ltd. sponsored HIV/AIDS sensitisation programme on September 18 at Watiyim Village.
Mokokchung, NMP+ President Toshi Sangpi in a press release informed that addressing the gathering at the sensitisation programme, Bharti Infratel Ltd. Tezpur Zone Zonal Operational Manager Chikanjeet Saikia said that the sponsorship of the sensitisation programmes is a part of Bharti Infratel Ltd’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for uplift of society and announced continued sponsorship of the sensitisation programmes of all the remaining villages and areas of Mokokchung District.
Speaking on the occasion, NMP+ Positive speaker Amenla shared her personal experience of being HIV positive and how she has dealt with stigma and discrimination while NMP+ President Toshi Sangpi spoke on the topic Impact of stigma and discrimination. Topics on HIV/AIDS Scenario of Mokokchung, and facts about HIV, AIDS and ART were delivered by General Secretary NMP+ T Temsu Jamir.
During the question/discussion hour session, participants thanked the organizers and the sponsor for sharing valuable information on HIV/AIDS with the villagers and conveyed that the sensitization programme was different from other HIV/AIDS awareness seminars in the way that they have learned to live positively even after HIV infection through sharing of information on treatment education, ART, etc. Participants expressed that HIV Positive speakers are more effective and therefore appreciated the experience sharing by NMP+ HIV Positive Speakers. Archila Jamir, coordinator NMP+ presided the programme which was attended by more than 150 participants.
