'Holistic environmental perspective'

Parliamentary Secretary for Labour & Employment, Skill Development and Border Affairs, Mmhonlumo Kikon today encouraged civil societies to conduct researches on environmental problems and conduct campaigns to evolve a holistic environmental perspective.  

Speaking at an environment awareness seminar for civil societies in Dimapur, organized by Save Environment Network under the theme, ‘Role of Civil Society in environment protection’ at Unity Hall, Naga Council here, Mmhonlumo also called upon the youth to inculcate deep understanding and concern on environmental issues.  

Further, the Parliamentary Secretary called upon Dimapur Naga Students’ Union to create awareness among the public on current environmental issues.

Dean of Science, Patkai Christian College, Angel Sonari was the resource person. Angel pointed out that vast areas of rich bio-diversity have been affected owing to activities in the name of development. In this regard, she called upon the civil societies to play its part in negotiating with the government and assist in reducing the effect of development on bio-diversity.  

The programme was attended by civil societies of Dimapur, environment conscious citizens and other invitees.
