Holy Spirit revival is an act of God’s outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the believers of Jesus Christ whereby the believers receive heavenly peace, joy, love, power and newness of life to witness the Gospel of Christ which is the salvation of sinners to the world.
The significant of Holy Spirit Revival are repentance, confessing and forsaking sins in tears, cleansing from sins, hunger and thirst for the word of God and prayer to God which impact receiving power of the Holy Spirit, ecstasy and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Such as speaking in tongues, visions, prophecy and performing miracles. Holy Spirit revival is as if the flame of fire from heaven to purge the church to enliven or awaken the church from lukewarmness and to equip the believers with power from high for proclaiming the truth to the perishing world. The fire of the Holy Spirit only creates zeal and boldness to witness and to stand for the truth.
We need to share the mighty works of the Holy Spirit experienced by our people in the past in different areas in our land.
I want to share my personal testimony about the initial stage of my conversion. I had depression over the fact that man lives, dies and buried and gets decomposed and becomes dust. In animism, God is not known except gods are believed and feared, so there is no peace and courage. I wanted to join the church but my parents forbade me, but after sometimes I joined the church against the will of my parents and when I read the Bible , the Bible teaches that believers of Christ have everlasting life. After I came to know it, my depression was gone and I had peace. what will be my fate if I continue in forefathers’ religion or if the Gospel of christ did not reach us? The gospel of Jesus Christ is really a good news of deliverence or setting free from imprisonment of darkness.
Some beloved believers advised me to have fasting and prayer and once I complied with the advice and had prayer and fasting for three days. On the third night when I prayed, my prayer was in ecstasy.I spoke in unknown tongue and my prayer was a flow of words and could not stop. I kept on praising God and since it was unusual to my wife, she said, “Are you going to be mad?” I felt like to be some where alone and spend the time in reading the word of God and praying and praising. It made me sang loudly in the church services.It is really an experience of tasting heavenly joy.
I thought to myself, I had enthusiasm to tell the good news to the unbelievers and some were bought to know Christ. But if I fail to take a step farther,I will be failing to avail the promise of God which tremendously enriches christians experiences. In my opinion, self-sufficiency and complacency prevents ones to take further step in seeking power.
