Homeward bound: Odisha gives warm send-off to SC Jamir

Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): Former Odisha Governor SC Jamir was today accorded a ceremonial send-off at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar. He left the state having completed his tenure on March 20.  

According to local media reports, Dr Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir left the state with his wife Alemla Jamir on a special flight to Nagaland. However, sources said he will reach Nagaland only on Sunday, March 25.  

He was accorded the guard of honour by two platoons of police force in presence of Odisha Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh and Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Jena, District Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra and Police Commissioner YB Khurania among others.  

A day before the departure of Jamir from Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid courtesy visit to Raj Bhawan on Friday where he had an informal meeting with him.  

Jamir, a five-time Chief Minister of Nagaland, took charge of Odisha Governor on March 21, 2013. He completed his tenure by addressing the State Assembly in the budget session on March 20.  

He was replaced by Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik who took oath as the acting Governor of Odisha on March 21, till further arrangement.
