Hornbill Charity Ball 2011, Kisama

Day third of the Hornbill festival, “Hornbill Charity Ball” the annual charity event in aid of Nagaland orphanages was held at Heritage Bamboo Hall, Kisama. As spectators waited for the first performance to take the stage, Himato Zhimomi, Commissioner Secretary of Art and Culture Department greeted a hall full of audience. He further acknowledged the Tourism Department for donating a sum of Rs. 10, 00,000 towards the charity.
Minutes later, the lights went dim inside the hall, paving way for the first performance of the evening to commence. The Voices of Hope, music by Nise Meruno and lyrics by Theja Khate was the first performance of the evening. As the audience applause and the lights went weak again, a Ballet dance surfaced on the stage, followed by a Piano Duetto, Amigo Para Siempre, Violin Duet and Medley of Contemporary Love Songs.
The second part of the evening uncovered “Origins”, the contemporary Naga musical theater play. The sounds tracks, lightings, dances, songs and musical notes that was seen and heard in “Origins” stole the thunder of the evening. After the show, Gilles commented, “It can’t be any better. This year there were more people to watch our performance…, everything was simply perfect and thanks to all the participants who made the event a success.”
A participant nervously said, “OMG, sigh! That was simply way too good. I really didn’t expect the show to be that grand. We had a hall full of audience, and the music, lightings, sounds, dance steps, everything thing was right on track.” Right after the show, dinner was served at Vileme Mhakhai Restaurant, Heritage Village Kisama. Pork cooked with bamboo-shoots was the favorite dish, not to mention thutse (a local Angami drink) that was served after the dinner.
The production team sends a message across, “Thank to one and all who have contributed towards the success of Hornbill Charity Ball.” Now, we certainly look forward to see what the same team has to offer in 2012 Hornbill festival.
