
‘Pitch Crew’ wins Hornbill Dance Competition
Featuring as one of the highlights of the Hornbill International Music Festival, the Hornbill Dance Competition was held at the Hockey Ground, IG Stadium, Kohima with 17 participants wherein Pitch Crew was adjudged winner. Fusion Flippers and Renna Sangtam clinched the second and third place. The winner was awarded a cash prize of Rs.15000 while the second and third prize comprised of Rs. 10000 and Rs. 5000 respectively. The other participants of the dance competition included Clement, Achui Zimik, Tribal Stepperz, Xtreme Wave, Alem Phom, Neivisielie Rino Theünuo, Chaming, Mülüveyi Khesoh, Masha Walim, The Chosen Generation Crew, Frisaim Steppers, Star Glz, Toxic Duealz, and Athrong Jerry Stm. respectively.

SNF band from Nagaland wins Hornbill International Rock Contest
Striking the right notes at the highly acclaimed Hornbill International Rock Contest 2016, SNF band from Nagaland was adjudged winner tonight at the Grand Finale held at Hockey Ground, IG Stadium Kohima. The band walked away with prize money of Rs. 10 lakhs. Crystal and the Witches from Sikkim bagged the first runner up while The Prophets from Mizoram was adjudged second runner up. They both received a cash award of Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 1 lakh respectively. The 9 bands that competed in the grand finale included Mount Groove from Darjeeling, A touch of Madness from Nagaland, Crystal and the Witches from Sikkim, Anti- Trust from Nagaland, Ambush from Assam, The Prophets from Mizoram, SNF from Nagaland, Soul Bucket from Nagaland and I am we from Kolkata. The Hornbill International Music Festival is produced by Little Fire Productions with Symphony Academy of Music Kohima, Life Pro, Metal Gear, Innovation and Kemp Designs as event partners.

Apon wins King Chilli Eating Competition
The King Naga Chilli eating competition, reckoned as the most celebrated and anticipated event of the Hornbill Festival, marked the culmination programme of the Hornbill Festival where Apon Nath emerged as the undisputed winner while Nesakho Tetso and Alung Kamei clinched the second and third position respectively. The winners were given a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 5000/- respectively along with citations. Altogether, 46 participants comprising of both domestic and international tourists participated at the event. In the female category, Ngahboi Kiki and Meghana Sharma were adjudged as the first & second respectively. In the tourist category, Captain Ram and Isham were declared first and second position respectively. The event was sponsored by the Department of Horticulture in collaboration with Tourism Department.

Hornbill Kids Carnival concludes
10 days of fun and adventure filled kids carnival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama concluded successfully which saw a footfall of around 10,000 visitors with a turnout of around 1000 people on weekdays and around 2800 people on weekends. The carnival, besides games and activities, also featured competitions on essay writing, singing, drawing, fancy dress etc. On the last day, a special praise and worship service by the Chakhesang Baptist Church, Choto Bosti was held and the carnival ended with the lighting of a bonfire. The kids carnival was organised by the Mutukuve Events in collaboration with Synergy Group Enterprise not only for fun and entertainment, but also to impart knowledge and learning to the children through its various activities.

Renphamo Ezung wins Naga Chef Season 4
The Naga Chef Season 4 which was organized by Synergy Group Enterprise and supported by the Tourism Department came to an end on the 10th day of the Hornbill Festival. After the preliminary round, 8 contestants were chosen which was finally rounded up into 4. The final result of the competition was declared by Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, C. Apok Jamir. Renphamo Ezung from Wokha district won the Naga Chef Season 4. The winner walked away with a prize money of 3 lakhs. The Naga Chef competition began in the year 2013. This competition is held to showcase the indigenous cuisine of Nagaland to the rest of the world.

Samrat Sengupta wins HIPFEST 2016
The Hornbill International Photo Fest2016 came to a close on December 10 with Samrat Sengupta (Assam) wining the first prize worth Rs. 35,000/-. Diti Mero won the second prize of Rs. 20,000/- and Heutinggumbe Ndang bagged the third prize of Rs. 10,000/-. Shanthungo Ezung and Vichusiezo Livi were awarded consolation prizes of Rs. 5000/- each. Bitu Chetia (Assam) and Diti Mero were also awarded the Best Afford category with a gift hamper of Digital to Home and Pro Colour Lab. The Hipfest photo contest is an annual event and this year’s photo dealt on the topic ‘Colours of Nagaland’. The judges for the contest consisted of some of the best photographers from Thailand Tom Potisit and Natwalee Aengsubwong (Linje). One of the factors which the judges stressed on while judging was the concept and story that a picture conveyed. Secretary, Tourism, Angau I. Thou gave away the prizes. The main coordinator of the event, Ababe Ezung informed that altogether 40 participants from all over India took part and that there was an increase in the number of participants this year. The Hipfest also saw photos exhibited by renowned Naga photographer Rokovor Vihienuo, M. Shanthung Ezung, a Freelance Photographer and Dimapur Photography Club. The Photo Fest was presented by Eastern Art Council and sponsored by the Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland.
