  Morung Express News Kohima | November 27   Daily cultural performances   Through “Culturally Yours,” the Department of Art And Culture will feature daily cultural performance at the main arena, Kisama.   According to the department, cultural troupes from all the tribes will be arriving soon to showcase their traditional attires, lively songs and dances including traditional practices.   The Archival Exhibition will showcase a rare collection of original documents from public records, private records, rare historical and geographical maps, newspaper clippings and rare books and sale of departmental publications etc. with reading facilities for interested students, scholars and researchers.   The department has extended invitation to one and all to be part of this event and experience the colorful Naga cultural heritage from December 1 to 10.     India Beatbox championship   For the first time in India, a new exciting event is about to unravel and go viral at this year’s Hornbill Festival. The first edition of India Beatbox Championship will be held from December 6 to 8 as part of the Hornbill International Music Festival 2016.   “The India beatbox championship will be the first and biggest beatbox competition in the country where we received more than 100 video entries from the best beatboxers from across the country,” said Yanpvuo Kikon, adding that 32 of the best beatboxers were chosen by a panel of judges comprising Cameron aka MC Eucalips, finalist of American Beatbox Championship and CEO of Beatbox Without Borders, Vineeth Vincent, who is an entrepreneur and one of the pioneers of beatboxing in India, and Julius Mitchell from Sri Lanka.   Yanvuo said the top 32 beatboxers in the country have been granted invitation to travel to Kohima and battle live in front of thousand people at the music festival to win the title of the best beatboxer in India.   Beatboxing is the art of vocal percussion by creating drum machine sounds and effects using only one’s mouth, lip, tongue and voice.   The beatbox culture is a new phenomenon which is hugely becoming popular particularly among the young crowd and turning into a new fad and a pop sub-culture.     WW II Peace Rally   The WW II Peace Rally in commemoration of the Battle of Kohima will take place on December 7. Cash prizes will be awarded to best original vehicle, best maintained vehicle, best uniformed squad, best weapon squad, best disciplined squad, best all women squad and best tourism promotion squad. Entry to this rally is free.     Kids Carnival   Kids Carnival cum school & higher secondary competition will be held from December 2 to 9 at Kisama. It will be marked by Hornbill Jr. photography, dance, colouring, drawing, painting, fancy dress, muffin decoration, essay writing, singing, traditional/folk music. Apart from this competition, there will be other exciting games and activities at the Kids Carnival such as “Pardu,” (Five stones), Marble (3,6), Hula Hoop as well as Barii (indigenous wooden go-kart), Thiilu (Strijking the beans), Cethu Viihtsii (Wooden top spinning), grease bamboo/pole climbing etc.     Hornbill International Rock Contest   Launch of Hornbill International Rock Contest 2016 will take place on December 7 at Hockey Ground, Indira Gandhi Stadium. 20 participating bands for this contest are; I Am We (Kolkata), Seed of Changes (Bangalore), Telescopium (New Delhi), Sot Recho (Assam), Obstinate (Pune), Zero Tolerance (Darjeeling), Ambush (Assam), Safe & Sound (Meghalaya), Daira (Mumbai), Disciple (Assam), Mount Groove (Darjeeling), If Hope Dies (Siliguri), Crystal & the Witches (Gangtok), Hidden Identity (Kolkata), Tribals Don’t Kill (Sikkim), The Prophets (Mizoram), SNF (Dimapur), Anti-Trust (Kohima), Soul-Bucket (Kohima), and A Touch of Madness (Dimapur).
