Cultural Extravaganza Continues The 9th day of the International Hornbill Festival, 2017 witnessed cultural songs, dances and other activities performed by various cultural troupes. Highlight of the day’s cultural events themed “Culturally yours” includes: Unghang Asho (Folk Song) by Phom Cultural Troupe, Shamyim Pe (Marriage Ceremony) by Konyak Cultural Troupe, Cultivating Song by Chang Cultural Troupe, Kiyi Arba by Ao Cultural Troupe, Amikukula by Sumi Cultural Troupe, Sauai Lhun by Kuki Cultural Troupe, Zimthao by Khiamniungan Cultural Troupe, Gogripa or Chagripa (Wrestling) by Garo Cultural Troupe, and Shakvudow (Folk Song/Dance) by Pochury Cultural Troupe. In the afternoon cultural programme, Zeliang Cultural Troupe presented the Kepie Lim (Ape Dance), Lotha Cultural Troupe presented the Pani Kayi Nzan (Folk Song), Chakhesang Cultural Troupe presented the Pfuheli and Angami Cultural Troupe performed the Runa Phichuneuo Kedakechule. Rengma Cultural Troupe performed the Kenyunyu, Yimchungrü Cultural Troupe presented the Nimong Khekhi (Count down to the fixed event), Sangtam Cultural Troupe presented the Mongmong Festival and Kachari Cultural Troupe presented the Slemah Dikhawbani. Dziesekholie wins Traditional Shot Put Competition Traditional Shot Put Competition organized by Department of Youth Resources & Sports and supported by Department of Tourism was held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on 9th December, 2017 the last day for traditional games. 16 participants representing each recognized tribe in the State competed in the event. Dziesekholie representing the Angami tribe emerged the winner of the competition while, Sholem representing the Konyak tribe and Ramlu representing the Zeliang tribe bagged the second and third prizes respectively. The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs.7000, Rs.5000 and Rs.3000. All participants were also given consolation prizes. Additional Director, Youth Resources & Sports gave away the prizes. Prem Zakia wins Naga King Chilli Eating Competition The 18th Hornbill festival Naga King Chilli Eating Competition was held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama which was organised by the department of Horticulture and XL event management Division with the support of Oking Hospital and Research clinic. Prem Zakia from Kohima won the first place by eating 6 king chilli whereas Akhou tetseo and Nusole bagged the second and third position respectively. The winners were given Rs. 30000/-, Rs.20000/- and Rs. 10000/- each. In the tourist category, Prashant Pandey from Gujarat won the first place by eating 4 king chilli and pocketed a sum of Rs. 20000/-
