Morungs renovation works on full swing at Kisama

The renovation works of morungs is now going on full wing at The Naga Heritage Village Kisama for the ten day long Hornbill festival, starting from December 1.


Toka E. Tuccumi, assistant director Tourism told The Morung Express that inclement weather in the last three days has affected the speedy execution of the renovation works.


With the improvement of weather, renovation work is going on full swing by the respective tribal hohos, he said.
Ao Morung is almost completed and likely to be dedicated on November 15.


Chief minister Neiphiu Rio recently wanted to see early completion of morungs renovation works.


This time, the department announced that the cleanest and the best morungs will be rewarded handsomely.


Organized by the state tourism and art & culture departments, the Hornbill Festival showcases a mélange of cultural displays under one roof.


The festival aim to revive and protect the rich culture of Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions.


The ten day festival will be marked by handloom & handicrafts, half marathon, craftscape, Horse Riding & Pony Cart Ride, Kids Carnival, Hornbill International Photo fest, Naga Chef Season 7, Hornbill First Cut, Box Office Show Folk Music Concert, Traditional Evening Park, Trekking to Mount Teyozwu, Music Festival, International Loin Loom, Night Carnival, Box Office show Country Music Extravaganza, Music/EDM/ Karaoke, City Tour, Dzukou Trek, Village Walk, Dzukou Festival, Hornbill WW2 Rally, Hornbill 4x4 Jeep Jamboree, Hornbill Escapade, trekking to Mount Teyozwu,  Emotive Strings, Handshake Concert, Hornbill Cycle Rally, Traditional Fire Making, Hornbill Writers Meet, Stone Pulling Ceremony, Traditional Shot Put, Hornbill Badminton Championship, Folk Drama, Tug of War,  Naga Wresting, Hornbill Motor Rally, Hornbill Off Road Challenge, Kids Carnival, Slit Bamboo Race, Hornbill Shooting Competition, MyKi Fest, Hornbill Strongest & Fittest man, Indigenous Go Cart Racing, Miss Nagaland, etc etc.


Meanwhile, the state department of horticulture will feature events like exhibition cum competition of flowers, fresh & dry flower arrangements, exhibition cum competition of fruits, vegetables and spices, sale of flowers, sale of departmental farm produces, sale of horticulture produces and sale of Naga organic produces.


The department of Information & Public Relations with Eastern Art Council and Portrait Enterprise and supported by tourism department will presenting Hornbill International Photo Fest with the theme “Colours of Nagaland.”
