In response to the remark of MLA Chotisuh Sazo that the programs of the Government are all festivals, music, dancing and tours only, Rio said that the Hornbill Festival has emerged as an engine of economic growth and opportunity for local entrepreneurs. “It not only showcases our culture and traditions, but also gives us a fantastic opportunity to introduce our unique food and musical talent to the world,” Rio said.

He said that Nagas have been endowed with a natural aptitude for music, for dancing and festivals.

“It is a part and parcel of our life. If we cannot build our economy on the skills and talents that nature has endowed us with, do you mean to say that we should give up what we are good at and imitate what others do? The musical skills of our people are increasingly getting recognized. It is because of this inherent potential that I had since my earlier tenure begun the task of building up Music as an industry,” Rio said.
