Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang today said that over the years, Hornbill festival has gained much popularity.
“Despite the remoteness of our state and lack of adequate infrastructure, it attracts tourists from both our country and different parts of the world,” Zeliang said while speaking at the eight day of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland here today. He said the uniqueness of this festival was that it provides us a common platform to showcase the vibrant culture of the Nagas in its full glory. It also portrays the love and determination of our people for preserving tradition and culture which is the hallmark of our identity, he said. Chief Minister said this year the state was very fortunate to have the esteemed presence of Ram Nath Kovind, President of India as the chief guest during the inaugural function of the 18th Edition of Hornbill Festival at Kisama and the 54th Statehood Day. The festival also witnessed the presence of Chief Ministers of two neighbouring states of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh just the other day.
