‘Cultural Connect,’ the final cultural extravaganza presented by the Department of Art & Culture at Kisama was graced by Minister, Higher & Technical Education Temjen Imna Along at Kisama on December 10.
Altogether, 17 outstanding cultural troupes from all parts of Nagaland presented their performances for the visitors, a glimpse of rich cultural songs, dances and traditions of the tribes of Nagaland during the Hornbill Festival.
The 10th day of ‘Cultural Connect’ witnessed performances from different cultural troupes. The Angami cultural troupe performed the folk dance Phita. The Khiamniungan cultural troupe demonstrated Liam Keh (Peace Treaty). The cultural troupe from Zeliang performed Ka-ke-nui-be, farewell dance. The Kachari cultural troupe performed Bikhao Ba (Concluding Dance) and Thuneo Khun was performedby the Yimchunger cultural troupe.
The Pochury performed the Ho! Nonari Lonari song. Ikha sunhei ikha tashe (a tug of war) indigenous game of the Sumi naga is played by thirty individuals at the least. The Lotha cultural troupe performed a victory dance called Ekhyo Shari. The Chang cultural troupe performed the Sangbu Dobu Yakie Lao Hangentibu Chai (praising song for wise women).
In the afternoon the event was grace by the Deputy Chief Minister, Y. Patton as the Host. The various Cultural Troupes performed on the 10th Day were- "Khava Jing Tsu Tsoh", a folk dance performed by Sangtam tribe.
"Lulu Yeinu & Oyuh Meilo", a traditional dance performance by Konyak tribe around the Zangvun (the decorated bamboo pole) signifying the God of blessings.
"Pangh Ow" (Beauty of Morung) folk song and demonstration performed by the Phometribe. "Savai Lhun" (grand reception if bountiful hunting). It is a demonstration performed by the Kiki tribe. "Naklu dance" is performed by Ao tribe. "Ngada" dance performed by Rengma tribe. "Uwhe" (war cry) performed by Chakhesang tribe. "Wangala "dance is performed by Garo tribe.
