Hornbill Music Festival Extension held in Wokha

As part of the ongoing 26th Hornbill Festival 2025 celebrations, the Hornbill Music Festival Extension was held at Yanchan Resort, located along the Wokha–Yikhum Road on December 9. The event was graced by C. Hachio Patton, PRO to the Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs), as the Guest of Honour. It also witnessed the special presence Mhonchan Tungoe, PS to the Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland, and Lironthung Kithan, President, Lotha Students’ Union (LSU).

Organised by TAFMA Nagaland through its district unit, TAFMA Wokha, the event brought together 15 artistes, offering a vibrant platform for both established and emerging musicians.

In his address, Guest of Honour C. Hachio Patton lauded the Government of Nagaland for extending the Hornbill Music Festival to Wokha. He remarked that since not everyone can travel to the main venue at Kisama Heritage Village, hosting the festival in Wokha has made it more convenient for both artistes and music lovers—an initiative he described as commendable. Noting that Wokha is home to many talented musicians, he expressed hope that such platforms would propel local artistes to larger and more prestigious stages. He further encouraged young talents to continue honing their skills and emphasised the importance of district-level platforms in promoting creativity and cultural expression.

The performance roster featured popular local groups and emerging young talents, including Galaxies Band, November Band, and individual artistes such as Nchumbemo Patton, Nzanthung Kithan (vocalist, AU), Lobeno Tungoe, Emily, Lirhoni Z. Odyuo, Zayio Tungoe, Lochumlo Kikon, and Stephen Tungoe.

The show, drew music enthusiasts from across the district. With free entry, the event provided an accessible platform for the public to experience live music while promoting local artistes during the Hornbill Festival season.
