Hornbill Naga Wrestling on December 4

Wrestlers from Maharastra, Karnataka, Delhi and neighbouring states to partake   Kohima, November 29 (MExN): The 11th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2017 is scheduled to take place on December 4, at the Amphitheatre in Kisama Naga Heritage Village.   Organized by the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) and sponsored by the Department of Tourism, this year’s edition, unlike previous editions, will witness two separate championships viz., Tourist category and general category.   According to NWA official sources, 15 best wrestlers from Angami Sports’ Association (ASA), Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) and Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) including tourist wrestlers will be vying for the ultimate championship.   Wrestlers from Maharsatra, Karnataka, Delhi and other neighbouring states have confirmed their participation and foreign tourists are also expected to partake in the championship, the NWA informed.   The champion in the ultimate championship will walk away with cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 along with citation while the runner up will be awarded Rs. 50,000 along with citation. The losing semifinalists will take home Rs. 20,000 each while the losing quarterfinalists will also walk home richer with Rs. 5,000 each. The champion in the tourist category will walk away with cash prize of Rs. 15,000 while the runner up will take away Rs. 10,000.   Chief Umpire and Convener, Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board, Hukhoneyi Soho along with 9 other panel of judges will take the responsibility of umpiring the championship while 11 other officials will manage the championship as Recorders, Announcers, Time Keepers, Runners and Belt Binders during the day long championship.
