High Commissioner of Bangladesh Embassy to grace the 5th day of Hornbill Festival
Kohima, December 4 (DIPR): Tariq A. Karim, High Commissioner of Bangladesh Embassy will grace the morning session of the 5th Day of the weeklong Hornbill Festival at the Naga Heritage village Kisama on 5th December 2011.
Cultural Programme at Kisama on Day-4
Kohima, December 4 (DIPR): The fourth day of the weeklong Hornbill Festival at the Naga Heritage village Kisama was graced by D.G., HFZA, Sea Ports and Customs, Government of Sharjah, UAE, Dr. Rashid Al Leem.
The cultural items in the morning session by different cultural troupes were Victory Dance-Athrong Tsuh by Youthurang Cultural Club (Yimchunger), Song of unrequited love by United Soyim Club-Ungma (Ao), Khiolak-Am shukium by Yankao Cultural Club (Khiamniungan), Ponding of Grain song-Türü thus khi by Narongpi Cultural Club (Sangtam), Games top spinning-Kangchong kap by Phaipijan Youth Club (Dim-Kuki), Folk song-Tati pfhe by Rüsoma Cultural troupe (Angami), Folk dance-Bai bin by Dimasa Cultural group, Head hunting song Dzükwü khwiza loye by Dhansiripar Dimapur-(Kachari) and Phor Cultural Troupe (Pochury).
Naga Chilli and Pork eating competition held at Kisama
Kohima, December 4 (DIPR): The much awaited Naga King chilli and pork fat eating contest was held in the Heritage village Kisama on 4th December 2011, which was conducted by XL foundation. The objective of conducting the competition is to promote the Naga chilli which are popularly grown in Nagaland and the indigenous sport of pork eating contest which is also popularly used in all the festivals of the Nagas. Altogether 15 contestants including 2 ladies participated in pork eating competition and 23 contestants including 1 lady participated in the chilli eating competition.
In the pork eating competition Kekhriesetuo Kiso who ate one kg, Yhumsito Lorin who ate 550 gm and H. Bokoi who ate 500 gm won the first, second and third prizes respectively with a cash prize of Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 5,000/-.
In the Naga chilli eating competition Nyulazhi Pojar who ate 15 chillies, Namluai who ate 14.8 chillies and Kuduhuto Lohe who ate 14 chillies in 20 second time were awarded first, second and third respectively. The prizes money for the competition were Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- and Rs 5,000/-.
A special category was also made for the Tourists who were registered on the spot. Yakhim from Israel who ate eleven chillies was awarded the first prize.
Paban Singh Ghatowar graces the afternoon session on 4th Day of Hornbill Festival
Kohima, December 4 (DIPR): Union Minister of DoNER and Parliamentary Affairs, GoI, Paban Singh Ghatowar graced the afternoon session of the day-4 cultural programme at the Naga Heritage village Kisama on 4th December 2011. After the cultural programme the Minister also visited the Morungs of different tribes.
The cultural items performed during the afternoon session were Community fishing-Ayichi Kuvu by Khehoi Village Cultural troupe (Sumi), Dance-Remu nye petho li by Phek Village Youth Society (Chakhesang), Healing ritual-Shathra lampü by Chao a Cultural Club, Aboi (Konyak), Folk dance-Hekaliem by Kangbao Cultural troupe, Dungki (Zeliang), Folk dance by Kepvüshen Longwa-Tesophenyu village (Rengma), Games-carrying of stone-Longzhu ejum by Bhandari village Cultural Club (Lotha), Voice of log drum-Panglang Tungstem/Monyü shem vong by Phom Cultural troupe of Yachem village (Phom) and One act play drama-festival of Chang-Nakn yulum by Cultural troupe of CCSU (Chang).
Media persons to walk through Night Bazaar
Kohima, December 4 (DIPR): To rediscover the night life and beauty of Kohima the Alpha Group endorsed by the Department of Tourism Nagaland is organizing a walk together. All the media persons at the Hornbill Festival will be taking a walk together from Dream Café through the night bazaar on 5th December 2011 starting from 4 p.m.
Glocal Film Festival concludes
Kohima, December 4 (DIPR): The Hornbill Glocal Film festival concluded on 4th December 2011 at the Heritage Bungalow Kohima with presentations and screening of short films marking the event.
Presentation on Animation film making was made by Tara Douglas, a 3D animator and also the director of the short film ‘Man Tiger Spirit’ which made its debut screening on 3rd December 2011. A presentation on ‘Animation and VFX’ was also made by Headhunters Entertainment. Short films including ‘Rochester NY’, ‘Antithesis Portraits’, ‘No Unicycle in the Gym’ and ‘The Education of Mr Wilbur’ were also featured to mark the occasion.
