The police detained one man for allegedly assaulting a woman in the District Hospital premises, Dimapur, on February 24. The man was detained based on a complaint filed by the hospital authority.
According to hospital sources, the complaint was filed following an incident in the morning in which one trainee nurse was physically assaulted by a youth. The alleged assault happened in the dental OPD around 8:00-8:30 am. The motive was still being investigated.
Incidentally, the victim was assigned to the dental OPD and was reportedly alone when she was assaulted. Other attendants/nurses or doctor were still to report to the OPD.
The police refused to divulge details while only stating that one suspect was detained for interrogation based on the victim’s statement and CCTV footage. It was reported that there was one other suspect but police did not corroborate this aspect of the case.
Other sources said that the detained individual was also a hospital staff. The condition of the victim was said to be stable.
