Kohima: The Ashikho Daili Trust for Academic Excellence Award under the aegis of the Mao Union Kohima held a felicitation programme on May 11 at the auditorium of the Modern College Kohima in honour of the toppers and successful candidates of HSSLC/HSLC Exam 2014 conducted by the NBSE.
MUK General Secretary D. Neli Koso informed in a press release that the Ashikho Daili Trust for Academic Excellence Award carries a cash award and a citation. The four HSLC topper recipients were Echeni Arche 31st position; Ariini Victoria Lajio 44th position; Saziini H. Chorosho 46th position and Athili Anthony 50th position.
Besides cash awards and citations by ADTAEA, the Mao Union Kohima feted all other HSSLC/HSLC successful candidates who were present on the occasion and a small token of appreciation was given for their success.
The programme started with a prayer by Rev. K. Losii Mao, Pastor Mao Baptist Church Kohima followed by self-introductions of the successful HSLC candidates. In his welcome note, L. Athikho Lirite president MUK congratulated the successful candidates. In his address, the president stated, “In honour of their dedication and sincerity we are celebrating today. The success that you bring is a laurel for us and to the community at large. The road to success is bitter and hard but the fruit it bears is sweet and soothing. Set a goal with a strong determination that will ultimately lead to success in life.”
Daziini presented a special number representing the Mao Students’ Union Kohima. Before giving away the awards, the founder of the Trust, A. Daili congratulated the successful candidates and in his short speech stated, “This day is a memorable day. It is a proud moment for all of us. Let us remember and thank God for His kindness” A. Daili later gave away the cash awards of Rs.10,000/- and a citation to each of the four HSLC toppers.
Speech on behalf of the parents of the successful candidates was delivered by A. Kaikho Arche Senior Accountant, Office of the Accountant General (AG) Kohima, who stated “I thank the organizers for this opportunity, especially the family of A. Daili and his lady wife Mrs. Apele for being so generous in encouraging the students to excel”.
An exhortation was delivered by Nishini Hekha, Consultant, Department of Radiology Zion hospital Dimapur. Dr. Nishini in his address said, “As the trend in the world today is going global we should also think in terms of globalization and set a higher standard of goals for ourselves. We must excel in our studies because only with it comes good career opportunities”
A. Kaihrii Chisiite, president, Mao students’ Union Kohima, conducted interviews of the toppers. S. Thohrii of Modern college Kohima presented a special song.
In her speech, Apele, the chairperson of Ashikho Daili Trust for Academic Excellence Award stated that “We must commit ourselves to the Lord. We may be able to achieve certain thing through our own efforts but God’s wisdom is a must if one is to achieve better results. We should set our priorities in order and know our goals” Apele congratulated all the successful candidates.
