H&TE minister assures additional MBBS & BDS seats in next session

Kohima, June 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) on June 7 held a meeting with the Minister Higher & Technical Education Temjen Imna Along at his official residence.  

In regard to the representation of ANCSU for acquiring additional seats for MBBS and BDS, the Minister highlighted the initiations of the department and Government, stated a press release issued by ANCSU General Secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso and Assistant General Secretary Imnameren N Jamir.  

The ANCSU while making fervent appeal and request to the Minister has asked for positive intervention to which the Minister assured for all possible initiations. Taking strong exception in the past years where the department and government failed to meet the needs of the aspiring MBBS and BDS students, ANCSU also apprised the Minister in acquiring seat under NEC.  

While admitting to take measures for the current session in respect to the representation of ANCSU, the Minister assured for arranging additional seats in the next session in which he also betted on asking Special Quota for Nagaland towards the requirement of MBBS & BDS seats.  

The round table meeting also had light discussions on the Kohima Science College Land Encroachment issue, PMS Scholarship issue and other related matters concerning the students’ community.  

Keeping in view of accountability and transparency, the Minister highlighted some of the state Government initiatives in implementing biometric attendances for the staffs in colleges by this year and students in the following year, proper drinking water facilities, library enhancement, encyclopedia access to all subjects, sponsorship of 50 students by ALS for aspiring civil service candidates which are some of the government in-progress initiations for the students, the Minister highlighted.
