DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Higher and Technical Education, Deo Nukhu today said that the Higher Education Department of the state is “working hard to give sufficient teachers in colleges and many posts are being agreed in the MRC.” He said this in response to the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU)’s earlier statement that certain departments of colleges in eastern Nagaland are being run “only by one teacher.”
The Minister, in a statement today informed that formal creation of posts “will go through the procedure as quick as possible.” With regard to Principals’ posting to various colleges, the Minister said that the same was delayed for more than a year due to court case between senior Ph D & non-Ph D teachers.
“However, this is being taken care very soon,” he said. “We have also sanctioned new college bus for ZPC Kiphire. But due to refusal to let HE appoint driver & conductor on fixed pay by Chief Secretary, everything got delayed. Shortage of teaching faculty is not only in ENPO area but all over the districts due to restrictions on post creation by Finance.
The department will surely see that justice is done in the overall interest of higher education,” the Minister added. It may be noted that the ENCSU had cautioned that it would not allow colleges in the area to function till sufficient teachers are available from the next semester.
