Huge haul of Opium, IMFL destroyed in Mon

Mon, March 31 (DIPR): Opium and IMFL worth around Rupees Three Lakh was destroyed at daily bazaar, Mon by KNSK the apex women’s organization of the Konyaks in the presences of the District Administration, Excise Department, Police, Assam Rifles, the Church leaders, the Konyak Union, the Students body (KSU) and its citizens on March 31.

  Addressing the gathering at the short destruction programme the President of KNSK, Lomei Konyak informed that such apprehended illegal goods are usually destroyed at the spot but it was decided to destroy on the eve of ‘Aoleang festival’ in the public place is to disseminate strong message to both the users and the sellers and at the same time to create awareness to the masses and highlight the activities of the mothers’ organization. She thanked the NGOs partners, the district administration, Police, Excise department, the Churches and the good citizens for their participation in the destruction programme and further seeks their cooperation and support in the future for transforming the society. She said that the seized opium and IMFL was apprehended from only two persons.   Short speeches were also proposed by the Vice President of Konyak Union, the Executive Secretary of KBBB, the President of Konyak Students Union and the EAC Sadar. All the speakers thanked the mothers’ organization for their yeoman service to the society and assured to extend their cooperation and support to the KNSK. They felt the need to have a joint venture in the future to combat such anti social elements.
