Dimapur, October 17 (MExN): Principal District & Sessions Judge, Mokokchung S Hukato Swu has been appointed as a judge of the Gauhati High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium made the appointment on October 15.
Swu was among a list of judicial appointments and transfers affected by the Collegium headed by the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi.
“The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 15th October, 2019, after taking into consideration the material on record, has approved the proposal for elevation of the following persons as Judges of the Gauhati High Court,” stated an official statement.
Besides Swu, Advocate Soumitra Saikia and Parthivjyoti Saikia were the other Judicial Officers of the Gauhati HC appointed as judges. The latter was serving as the District & Sessions Judge, Tinsukia, Assam.
