Reigning champion Huluyi D Vade-o today retained the title at the 29th wrestling meet 2024 of Secheku Wresting Association (SWA) at Porba village under Phek district. Son of Lt Vecuzo D Vade-o, 21 years Huluyi from Sakraba village pocked a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
17 years Thuputha Hesuh, son of Vezhocho Hesuh from Porba village bagged the second position and awarded with a cash prize of Rs 80,000. Huravo Vade-o, son of Zanu-o Vade-o from Sakraba village stood third position and received Rs 60,000. Fourth place winner Kuvenu Puro, son of Vehuta Puro from Porba village, received a cash prize of Rs 40,000.
Nuo Swuro is Under 16 category champ
In Under 16 category, Nuo Swuro, son of Kuvecusa Swuro from Porba village bagged the champion title and received as cash prize of Rs 30,000.
2nd position holder Vephi Kezo, son of Vecukho Kezo from Pholami village, awarded with Rs 20,000. Kuthosu Dzudo, son of Thuvocuyi Dzudo from Porba village stood third place and received Rs 15,000. Kho Vade-o, son of Thupupoyi Vade-o from Sakraba village bagged 4th position and awarded with Rs 10,000.
Shepo to lead SWA 2024-27
Shepo Dziido from Porba village has been announced as the new president of SWA for the tenure 2024-27 and Kerelhi Lohe from Enhulumi village as general secretary among the others.
The four top winners in senior category along with Puto Sakhamo from Porba, Mutsi Kezo (Pholami), Mhathoveyi D Vadeo (Sakraba), Dunve Thuluo (Porba), Cuhuta Thuluo (Porba), Sukhrure Domeh (Zelome), Ruvezo D Vadeo (Sakraba) and Dangao Rume (Zelome) will represent SWA at the forthcoming Chakhesang wrestling meet 2024 by February this year.
Earlier, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, leader NPF Legislature Party and Thupuvecho Vadeo, President, Chakhesang Union Chümoukedima graced the meet as the special guest and guest of honour respectively.
SWA President Kuhusheyi D Vadeo delivered presidential address while SWA technical secretary Tewetso Tsuhah administered oath to the wrestlers. Altogether, 35 wrestlers vied for coveted champion title in senior category ad 15 wrestlers for Under 16 category. Zacuta Puro, Huvesu Puro and Wekekhe Tsido officiated the meet as referees.
