
Peren, November 5 (MExN): The Hybrid Solar Dryer at Mbaupungchi promoted by North East Rural Livelihood Project under Ministry of DoNER Government of India and supported by World Bank was inaugurated by Jemmy Zeliang, Assistant Director Department of Information and Public Relations, Kohima on November 2. A press release issued by Ruuvilie Kotsu, DPM NERLP Peren stated that the special guest, Jimmy Zeliang (Kuigau), Assistant Director, IPR thanked the NERLP for installing the hybrid solar dryer, the effort the project staffs made to see it to the completion. He went on to say that the development of a village starts with the Unity amongst the villagers. “Installation of the dryer,” he said “will surely ensure more production and profitability of the crop.” He added it is not the size of the field but the sustainability of the entire process, the venture should collectivize the resources of the neighbouring villages and include them in the operation. He encouraged the farmers to use bio manures and pesticides and desist from harmful chemical substances and urged the villagers to fulfill the purpose of the installation of the drying machine. In consonant with the project objective, Ruuvilie Kotsu, DPM NERLP Peren exhorted the villagers of Mbaupungchi, saying “that it was their unity and the sense of ownership that which brought the activity to its successful completion.” He said the asset created depends on the management and maintenance to make the asset to profit those for whom it was created. He highlighted the various activities NERLP is taking up in Peren viz 1033 SHGs have been formed, and over Rs. 14 crores of rupees has been released to the SHGs. The project supported the rural Peren with their seed and livelihoods’ funds. About 130 SHGs have been linked with the bank and another 150 SHGs are in the process of documentation. He shared about the various skill trainings trades the project support the youths from 18-35 years for placement and operating their own enterprises. The CDG (Community Development Group) Secretary acknowledged the dedication and commitment of the Project staffs who stood by till the point of accomplishment. The SHG federation added colour to the auspicious occasion by their cultural dance. The North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) project aims to skill empower and impact the entrepreneurs the rural Peren, the project looks forward to having entrepreneurs working on their choicest of careers. The project believes in supporting individuals who trusts in collective strength. The inauguration program brought the fulfillment of the highly priced spice (Naga King chilli) which when processed could influence the entire dish. The hybrid solar drier with a capacity of 100kg per batched. The drying mechanism hybrid with solar, biomass and grid power supply back up. Drying king chilli accentuates the pungency and lengthen the shelf life, likewise look deeper into the trade and make the difference.
