I-Day celebrated across Nagaland

Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The 70th India Independence Day was celebrated in all the 11 district headquarters of Nagaland on August 15.  

In Mokokchung, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland P. Longon was the chief guest at the celebration held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.  

The celebration in Zunheboto was held at the Local Ground with Minister, Rural Development and REPA, C L John as the Chief Guest. An exhibition football match was also played between 5th Assam Rifles and All Nagaland Private Schools Association, followed by prize distribution and beating of the retreat.  

In Mon, the celebration was held at Local Ground, Mon with Minister for Mechanical, National Highway & Election, Nuklutoshi as chief guest. Nuklutoshi highlighted the key achievements made in various sectors by the Government. Dimapur celebrated the Independence Day at DDSC Stadium Dimapur, where Minister for PHE, Tokheho Yepthomi delivered the Independence Day speech.  

In Phek district headquarters, Minister for Forest, Environment & Wildlife, Dr. Neikesalie Nicky Kire was the chief guest. The Minister stated that the Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has collaborated with the community to develop the Nagaland model of conservation which is recognized as a new paradigm for community conservation.  

Wokha celebrated the day at Local Ground with Minister for Power, Kipili Sangtam as chief guest. Longleng district headquarters commemorated the day at Local Ground with Minister for Road & Bridges, Y. Vikheho Swu as chief guest. The Minister unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from 10 parade contingents. In Tuensang, the celebration was held at Parade Ground with Minister Transport & Civil Aviation, IT & C, P. Paiwang Konyak as chief guest.  

The Independence Day was also celebrated in Bhandari, Pfutsero, Pughoboto, Satakha, Sanis, Tizit, Jalukie, Thonoknyu, Changtongya, Longkhim, Aboi, Jakhama, Noklak, Tening, Chiephobozou, Pungro, Tobu, Shamator, Meluri, Tseminyu, Aghunato, Medziphema, Mangkolemba, Niuland, Chen, Tuli, Naginimora.
