Biren Singh launches official website of Sangai Photo Festival 2018

  Newmai News Network Imphal | October 17   Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched the official website of the inaugural edition of Sangai Photo Festival 2018. The launching function was held at Cabinet Hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat n Imphal today.   Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that, “I feel proud to be a Manipuri and extremely overwhelmed to see the potential and talents of youths of the State.” He mentioned that the government did not create enough space to the youths to showcase their talents to the outside world in the past. He added that, since the installation of the present government, the government is trying to create some space for the talented youths of the State. The government has launched ‘Manipur Start-Up Policy’ to encourage the youths and to tap their potentials, he further added.   The Sangai Photo Festival will be a part of the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival 2018. The Photo Festival organized by Tayal Filmer in association with the Tourism Department, Government of Manipur will witness some of the big names in photography in the country and around the world. The event will be held at different venues across the State. The photo festival will include exhibitions, talks, workshop, master class, beginner class, grants and competitions. Renowned photographers like Sanjeev Saith, Prashant Panjiar, Neeraj Priyadarshi, Sumit Dayal, Tashi Tobgyal, Catriona Child etc. would be speaking at workshops, talks and competitions during the event.   Oinam Anand, Director of the festival said that the Photo Festival under the theme - ‘Stories and Meanings’ will also celebrate the medium of photography as an art form as well. The event intends to create a platform for aspiring photographers and will provide the necessary exposure to photographers in the state and in the north-east region. The organization will give a grant of Rs 1 Lakh to one selected participant of the Masterclass to assist him/her to complete a photo story.   Deepak Shijagurumayum of Tayal Filmers appealed to members of various photography clubs in the state, photographers and public for their participation in the event to make it a huge success. It will be a huge opportunity for photographers to express themselves using medium of photography, to learn and to share stories with everyone.
