‘I Love Satakha’ landmark inaugurated along NH-702A

Satakha, May 19 (MExN): The Satakha Town Youth Organisation (STYO) on May 19 officially inaugurated the “I Love Satakha” landmark along NH-702A as part of its ongoing town beautification initiative.

The landmark was installed on land donated by the children and family of late Hoshivi Tuccu Yepthomi of Satakha Village. The dedication programme was attended by local leaders, Gaon Buras, councillors of the Satakha Town Council, community members and invited guests, including Personal Assistants to ministers.

Aronto Y. Jimo, Personal Secretary to the Minister for Roads & Bridges, Nagaland, inaugurated the landmark during the ceremony, while Pastor Vitoka Zhimo of Satakha Town Baptist Church, Aizuto, offered a special prayer of dedication.

Speaking at the formal inaugural programme held at General K. Zuheto Swu Memorial Hall, Satakha, Jimo conveyed greetings from the Office of the Minister for Roads & Bridges and lauded STYO for what he described as a historic milestone for the town.

He said the occasion was a matter of pride for Satakha and commended the youth organisation for turning that pride into meaningful action.

“We must improve our quality of life through active, physical participation — by sacrificing time and energy and working together to compete and collaborate with the wider Naga community,” Jimo said.

He also called on residents to become ambassadors of peace, unity and reconciliation, while appreciating Minister G. Kaito Aye for his continued concern and efforts toward the advancement of Satakha and the wider Naga people.

Highlighting ongoing infrastructure development in the area, Jimo urged the community to take ownership of public assets and ensure that government-initiated projects are properly maintained and utilised for the benefit of future generations.

STYO President Ikupu Tuccu said the organisation, formed in 2017, had identified the landmark installation as one of its major projects.

“Today this vision has become a reality,” he said, while urging the community to take collective responsibility for local development instead of depending entirely on government support.

ADC Satakha, Chumlamo Humtose, also lauded STYO for mobilising voluntary contributions and community participation for the project. He highlighted the strength of Naga society’s community-based approach and encouraged the town to work towards becoming a plastics-free zone.

Deputy Chairperson Veto V. Zhimomi expressed appreciation to STYO for its efforts in beautifying the town and encouraged the organisation to continue undertaking initiatives for community welfare.

The programme was compered by Wilka Zhimo and Onitoli Swu. Invocation was pronounced by Kinovi Z. Zhimo, APY STBC, while Mutavi V. Zhimomi, General Secretary of STYO, delivered the vote of thanks. The benediction was pronounced by Hetoka, APY, UBC Satakha.
