The IAF’s C17 Globemaster transport aircraft brought Nagaland its fourth consignment of medical load at the Dimapur airport on April 11.
DIMAPUR, APRIL 11 (MExN): The fourth consignment of critical medical load in support of Nagaland State government arrived today at Dimapur airport via a C17 Globemaster transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
The medical load was received by Advisor NSDMA, Kazheto Kinimi. He thanked and appreciated the IAF team and crew working under high risk conditions for the continuous support given to Nagaland State Government during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Considering the difficult terrain and inherent connectivity issues faced by the Naga people, such proactive preparedness and cohesive coordination and cooperation by various multiple nodal agencies was the need of the hour, Kinimi noted.
He further stated that because of Central support to State Government and Naga public’s collective efforts, adequate targeted mitigation measures are being adopted and in position to reduce the scale of any impending disaster in the State.
He expressed hope that air support by the Ministry of Defense in support of NSDMA, which is chaired by the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, especially in interiors of the state if needed would be a positive step and boost capabilities to tackle any disaster.
The Hindon based C-17 Globemaster aircraft manufactured by Boeing of 81 Sqadron ‘SKYLORDs’ with strategic capabilities and special operations including quick special troops/equipment mobilisation, has also recently flown missions to Wuhan in China, the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic to drop medical aid and evacuate stranded Indian nationals. The plane has also flown in for similar missions to Iran.
The aircraft has a capacity to airlift up to 70 tons of load.
