
Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): ICAR Research Complex NEH Region, Nagaland Centre conducted a training programme on ‘Entrepreneurship development through mushroom cultivation’ in collaboration with ICAR-Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan from December 5 to 7.
The three days training cum demonstration was organized by Dr. G. Rajesha, Scientist (Plant Pathology) to develop the entrepreneurs in the mushroom cultivation. The training programme consisted of technical sessions on cultivation of paddy straw, oyster, milky, shiitake and button mushrooms.
The resource persons from ICAR-DMR, Dr. Satish Kumar, Principle Scientist (Agril Entomology) and Dr. Mahantesh Shirur, Scientist (Agril Extension) along with the scientists from RFRI Jorhat, NU-SASRD Medziphema, KVK Longleng and ICAR Nagaland Centre were involved in executing the hands on training on different mushroom cultivations.
In addition to the cultivation practice, value addition, processing and marketing of mushrooms were also covered in the training programme.
During the valedictory programme, Dr. DJ Rajkhowa, Joint Director motivated the participants to come up as an entrepreneur in spawn production to mitigate the problem of spawn availability in Nagaland. Altogether, 30 farmers from Dimapur, Longleng, Pasighat attended the training.
