Dimapur, July 25 (MExN): A two-day training programme on Scientific Mithun Husbandry for Enhanced Productivity and Profitability was conducted by the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM), Medziphema from July 22 to 23 in Dimapur.
According to a press release from the Centre, the training was aimed at equipping Mithun farmers with improved scientific practices to boost productivity and profitability in Mithun rearing.
A total of 21 farmers from Siang and West Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh participated in the programme.
The training comprised both theoretical and practical components, covering topics such as semi-intensive rearing systems, disease management, breeding techniques, and entrepreneurial opportunities in Mithun meat and milk production.

Practical demonstrations, including Mithun casting, restraining, and tagging, were conducted to provide participants with hands-on experience.
The programme was structured to address the challenges faced by Mithun farmers and to promote modern husbandry practices tailored to local conditions, the release informed, with experts from NRCM delivering actionable knowledge to the farmers.
The event concluded with a feedback session and the distribution of participation certificates to the trainees.
The NRCM also expressed hope that the knowledge imparted during the training would contribute towards strengthening Mithun farming practices and livelihoods in the Siang and West Siang regions.
