Medziphema, February 6 (MExN): ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR-NRCM) concluded its 21-day Winter School from January 16 to February 5. 

This edition of the Winter School saw significant participation from women, with 12 female and 10 male candidates representing seven states of India. The participants included subject matter specialists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR scientists, and faculty members from state and central agricultural universities, a press release received here stated. 

The training programme comprised 65 sessions, including classroom lectures, field visits, and hands-on training, conducted by over 15 eminent experts from across the country, along with in-house faculty from ICAR-NRC on Mithun.

The valedictory session on February 5 was graced by Dr CS Prasad, former Vice-Chancellor of MAFSU, former Director of ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru, and former ADG, ICAR Headquarters, New Delhi, as the chief guest. Col Kartik Thapa, VSM, Commanding Officer of the 22 Assam Rifles, and Dr Nazrul Haque, Retired Principal Scientist (Animal Nutrition), attended as guests of honour.

Dr Prasad highlighted the key modules covered in the Winter School and emphasized the importance of collaboration among participants for knowledge exchange and professional growth. Dr Girish Patil S, Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, presided over the function and shared his insights on the significance of such training programs in strengthening the overall value chain of Mithun in Northeast India.
