The Convocation 2016 of Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University Nagaland was held on November 23 at the University Auditorium at Sovima, Dimapur. Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya graced the programme as chief guest and Parliamentary Secretary, Higher and Technical Education, Government of Nagaland, Deo Nukhu graced the day as guest of honour.
Governor PB Acharya, in his speech commented ICFAI University Nagaland for providing the degree programme in management and Information Technology, introduced BA Honours in Library and Information Science, Certificated course in Computer Hardware and Networking and is also in the process of introducing more professional programmes in the forthcoming semester.
While congratulating the graduates and post graduates of the University, the Governor viewed students as the most important part of an educational institution. He noted that the ability to change oneself and capability to change others and transform society is crucial stating that these factors make survivability and sustainability of an institution.
Lamenting about the lack of hardly any constructive and positive dialogue between our trade, industry, commerce and education, Acharya pointed out that our conventional degrees have neither made us employable not entrepreneurs. No outsiders can make Nagaland prosperous and peaceful except the Nagas themselves, he reminded.
Informing that Nagaland has only one Central University, Deo Nukhu felt the need for more quality private universities in the State. Nukhu was optimistic that even in the days to come ICFAI University Nagaland would prove to be one of the best private universities not only in the North East but in the entire country. Nukhu made a strong appeal to the sponsoring society to consider extending the present infrastructure in order to cater to the growing needs of the University.
Adakho Kadete delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating students. The programme was attended by parents of graduating students, well wishers, Principals of various institutions and staffs of ICFAI University.
Earlier, the Governor lighted the traditional lamp and declared the Convocation ceremony open. He also presented medals to the class toppers of various disciplines. The Vice Chancellor of the university read out the Chancellor's address in his absentia. On the occasion, the Pro Vice Chancellor administered pledge to the graduating students.
