Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): The Department of History of ICFAI University Nagaland, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the university, hosted a talk titled ‘Introduction to the Writings of Military History’ on January 23.
The session featured Dr. Khrienuo Ltu, Assistant Professor at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), as the resource person. She provided an overview of military historiography with a specific focus on the “New Military History” movement that emerged in the 1980s.
During the talk, Dr. Ltu said that this modern approach goes beyond traditional battlefield-focused narratives and examines the wider socio-economic impacts of warfare. She demonstrated the application of the “New Military History” framework through a study of the Battle of Kohima.
The session concluded with a discussion on the continuing relevance of military history in contemporary academic discours.
