Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The latest session of the Kairos Lecture Series held on February 18, featured a talk by Odimenla Jamir, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, ICFAI University Nagaland, on Consumerism, Environmental Pollution and the Market. The session, chaired by Roni Lajeo (MA 4th Semester), aimed to encourage students to engage with critical global issues. The Associate Dean Dr Kevizonuo Kuolie, introduced the session by emphasizing the importance of learning from diverse disciplines.
Jamir highlighted the environmental consequences of consumerism, including resource depletion, pollution, and waste generation. She discussed the limitations of market-driven solutions in addressing sustainability and underscored the role of government policies, corporate responsibility, and informed consumer choices in fostering a sustainable future. Following the lecture, students shared their key takeaways, reflecting on the discussion's impact.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment focused on the practicality of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the present world, with an emphasis on the feasibility, infrastructure challenges, and long-term sustainability.
