Newmai News Network Imphal | July 26 Information Centre for Hill Areas, Manipur (ICHAM) sought for identifying the right location of Border Pillar No 81 and get it erected at the right spot. ICHAM also demanded the re-demarcation and re-survey of India-Myanmar boundary in Manipur sector particularly between Border Pillar 81 and 95. Speaking to media persons at ICHAM office in Imphal this afternoon, ICHAM president Yuimi Horam said that the question of location of Border Pillars in Manipur sector along the India-Myanmar boundary has remained as a major issue of dispute between the people of Manipur and the Myanmar authority for the past several decades, sometimes causing the relation between India and Myanmar to become sour. The ICHAM president then expressed its gratitude to Central survey team for inspecting the disputed Border Pillar 81. However, the ICHAM chief expressed unhappiness that the team did not bring relevant documents and instruments required for the survey. The ICHAM president also expressed its disappointment that the survey team did not give enough time to interact with the villagers (border) and civil societies. The ICHAM president then appealed the politicians not to politicise the issue. ICHAM also appealed the Survey of India to find out the genuine location of BP 81 and to have it erected there as per the Boundary Agreement signed between India and Myanmar in 1967 in Rangoon.
