Requests postponement of viva-voce
Kohima, September 10 (MExN): The Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB) has alleged that the selection process being conducted by the Health and Family Welfare department for the five Junior Dental Surgeon Post announced on August 4 lacks transparency.
In a press release issued on September 10, the IDANSB has sought transparency in the selection process for the mentioned posts.
15 candidates were short listed out of 82 qualified applicants (3:1 criteria), according to the ISANDB.
33 applicants were rejected citing incomplete document, document not self attested, over age, criteria not fulfilled, it added.
It then questioned the department’s decision to “hastily call for viva voce immediately the day after declaring the list of short listed candidates without even declaring the score of the candidates.”
According to the ISANSB, the decision “is something unheard-of and unacceptable.”
It further alleged that the department had committed an error even in the case of AYUSH Medical Officer, where 4 applicants were not awarded due points for their work experience and were rejected. The department later had to reconsider those candidates and issue new list of short listed candidates (63+4) exceeding the ratio of 3:1, it said.
The Association requested the department to declare the score of all the short listed and qualified candidates (university marks + work experience + PG diploma/ degree) before conducting viva voce, It also sought details of missing documents for the candidates rejected citing ‘incomplete documents’.
It also appealed to the concerned authorities for reconsideration of ratio of candidates selected for viva voce, as selection ratio of 3:1 is usually considered after conducting the written examinations.
“Whereas, in this case, since no written examinations are conducted, in order to be more fair and just and to give more opportunity to aspiring candidates the association requests the department to increase the acceptance ratio for viva voce,” it added.
In this regard, the IDANSB requested the department to postpone the viva-voice “till such clarifications are sorted out.”
