Mokokchung, June 19 (MExN): In accordance to the Directives from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, IDCF (Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight) activities were conducted across Mokokchung District from June 5 to 17, with the country’s aim to intensify efforts towards ‘zero’ childhood deaths due to diarrhoea across all states and UTs of India.

A press release from the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung office stated that the Ministry targets to reach 90% coverage of both ORS and Zinc among the targeted population by the year 2025 as per India Action Plan for Pneumonia and Diarrhoea (IAPPD).

To manage and control the high diarrhoeal mortality rate, the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Mokokchung implemented IDCF activities for prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhea across the health units and villages of the district, which consisted of activities such as, awareness for diarrhoea management and hygiene/sanitation, strengthening service provisions for diarrhoea case management, distribution of ORS-Zinc by ASHAs in households with under-five children.
