Pungro, May 9 (MExN): An Inter-Departmental State Team (IDST) reached Pungro on May 7 for 'on the spot assessment' of the damages caused by April 21 hailstorm incident in the sub-division.

 

On May 8, after a short briefing held with ADC & EAC Pungro in the morning,  the IDST and DDMA Team moved out to Salomi village to start the spot assessment.


According  to a DIPR report, the team, before the exercise, also had a brief meeting with the Salomi village council.


The IDST team collected  information from the affected families by going house to house as per the proforma of 'on the spot assessment' in view of the hailstorm incident, it said. 


It may be noted here that a hailstorm incident on April 21 last had affected many villages in Pungro Sub-division under Kiphire district. 


Informing on the sequence of events leading to the IDST visit, the report noted that earlier a DDMA Team led by ADC Pungro verified the initial damages caused by the hailstorm incident on April 21 and further detailed assessment was made on April 27. 


As per the Disaster Situation Report(DSR) submitted to DDMA Kiphire on April 22, it was reported that a total of 122  houses were fully damaged, 112 severely damaged and 283 partially damaged, it said.


Accordingly, relief was sanctioned to the DDMA Kiphire on April 23 as per the  norms of assistance under state Disaster Response Fund.


However before disbursing the relief DDMA Kiphire has made on the spot assessment and submitted to NSDMA that affected family was found to be 514 household, which are partially damaged only, it added. 


Subsequently, the Government of Nagaland constituted the IDST led by L Jonjibemo Odyuo, SRROp,NSDMA along with representative from PWD(Housing), Soil & Water Conservation and NSRLM(Rural Development), the DIPR report informed.


The team was entrusted to further assess the collateral damages due to the hailstorm incident on April 21 in other areas in the sub-division. After Salomi Village, the team will be covering, Pinkim village, Khongsa Town, Moya Village, Kiuro Village,Pungro Village & Town, and New & Old Vongti, the DIPR report added.
