Newmai News Network Imphal | August 13 Amid the enhancement of security position ahead of the Independence Day celebration in Manipur, an explosion occurred this morning in Imphal West district. The blast occurred at Kakwa Naorem Leikai. The explosion is believed to be that of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). However, there was no casualty due to the blast. The blast occurred around 9:40 am near a power transformer located beside Naorem Leikai Lairembi Ground under Singjamei police station. The superintendent of police of Imphal West district, the commandant of 6 Assam Rifles and officers of Singjamei police station rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. A police bomb squad collected samples from the blast site. No group has claimed responsibility so far for the blast.
