Dimapur, May 3 (MExN): “Humility is our strength, which is when God begins to make use of us,” Youth Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Iringtie Kauring said in his convocation message at Agape College in Dimapur today. Kauring told students that they will feel insignificant in the world flooded with degrees, titles, positions and material gain, but they must battle human pride. He said that many people today try to rationalize things with their degrees and intelligence but reminded that without God all labour goes in vain. “If you want to boast, do it for the Lord,” he said
Kauring further told students that God has called each of them in a different context; adding God has big tasks for them and it is a risky business. He said the world may not respond to what they say or come in line with their preaching; but they overcome all difficulties with their level of commitment and the power of the Holy Spirit. He said as ambassadors of Christ, they must have the conviction to draw people to God because neither talent nor intelligence can do it for them.
Also providing words of encouragement to the graduating students, Kauring said they are wounded healers who must be vulnerable to peoples’ needs always. He encouraged them to keep their faith firm and resolute at all times.
A total of twelve students graduated with degrees in Bachelor of Theology. Tokehli Kikon, Chairman, Naharbari Village Council and Advisor DMC, was the guest of honour. Awards of cash for academic excellence in Old Testament, New Testament, theology and history were awarded to Peter Aley, scripture knowledge to Nyimang, Life and Ministry to Krope Zhimu and overall performance to Peter Aley.
