IFCD Chief Engineer retires; department bids farewell

Kohima, July 31 (DIPR): Irrigation & Flood Control Department (IFCD) organized a farewell programme for its retiring Chief Engineer, Er. Njilo Kemp, who served the department for the last 35 years on July 30.  

The incoming Chief Engineer, Er. Kughaho Sema highlighted the achievements of Er. Njilo Kemp describing him as the pioneer in bringing about major central schemes in the department like Ground Water schemes, Command Area Development Programme, Flood Management Programme and Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme. He also portrayed him as an ethical and honest person.

  Also gracing the programme, Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control Department, N Jacob Zhimomi said that Er. Njilo Kemp’s passion for work and vast technical knowledge was commendable. While appreciating the contribution made by the retiring officer, he also challenged the upcoming officers to be at least at par or better than Er. Njilo.  

In his speech, Er. Njilo highlighted the achievements of the department and said that the department had never sought consultancy service for preparation of Detailed Project Reports. He encouraged the department to work for the welfare of the farmers in providing irrigation. He also encouraged the officers to work for the betterment of the department.  

Others who spoke included Er. Tsuktinungsang, Superintending Engineer, on behalf of Irrigation Department Engineers’ Association, Er. Chubasashi Chang on behalf of Outpost Officers, Er. Dikhalo Lasushe on behalf of IDDEA, Shetoli, Registrar, on behalf of ministerial staff and Er. Sobu Angami.  

A special song was presented by Er. J Lanu Longchar, Executive Engineer, Mokokchung, and a PowerPoint Presentation entitled ‘A walk through Er. Njilo Kemp life’ was presented by Er. Wapangnaro Imchen, SDO.
