Major General Suresh Kumar Bhambhu, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) reviews the attestation parade of recruits of Operator Radio Line (ORL) at the ARTC & S, Shokhuvi on March 23.

Shokhuvi, March 23 (MExN): A total of 300 recruits were attested in the parade ground of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Shokhuvi on March 23.
Major General Suresh Kumar Bhambhu, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) reviewed the parade in the presence of Colonel Rajiv Chaudhary Officiating Commandant ARTC&S and other senior officers of the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles.
The parade marks the the completion of 56 weeks of “gruelling training in battle craft, weapon handling, jungle lane shooting and specialization in Counter Insurgency operations,” informed an official release.
The parade was led by Maj Rishabh Rana, an officer of Technical Entry Scheme (TES) who has done B Tech in mechanical engineering and is posted at the ARTC & S, it said.
Addressing the recruits, Maj Gen Bhambhu highlighted the rich history and legacy of the Assam Rifles as the oldest paramilitary force of the country and said that it is responsible for “Border Security, Counter Insurgency and maintaining law and order” in North-East India.
He emphasised the huge responsibility now being bestowed upon the shoulders of Newly attested Riflemen as the sentinels of the North East, the release added,
The reviewing officer also called upon the newly attested recruits to serve the Nation with all sincerity besides asking them to keep pace with technology.
The Technical Trade soldiers’ job was even more challenging given that their job responsibility as technical trade is over and above that of general duty trained military soldier, he added.
Maj Gen Bhambhu also congratulated the recruits and their parents on successful completion of their training and wished them success and happiness in all their future endeavours.
This attestation parade was unique for the fact that it had only technical entry recruits of Operator Radio Line (ORL) Trade, the release said.
The newly passed out Rifleman will now join their respective units in all frontline duties and continue to serve the country, it added.
After the passing out parade, the Reviewing Officer personally met the overall best Recruit P Shashi Kumar, best recruit in Information & Technology Recruit Kunal Bol,, best recruit in Radio Communication Akash Lakra and Best Recruit in Line Communication Kunal Mahto.
SSP Cadets attend Parade
Meanwhile, cadets of Sainik School, Punglwa, attended the Attestation Parade and interacted with Maj Gen Suresh Bhambhu, who is an alumnus of Sainik School Chittorgarh.
He imparted words of wisdom and encouragement to the cadets and urged the cadets to embrace the virtues of valour and zeal, inspiring them to pursue a future in the defence and paramilitary forces, the stalwart guardians of our nation’s sovereignty, a press release from PRO (Defence) informed.
The interaction served as a bridge between the past and the future, it added.
