While drawing attention on the issue of illegal immigrants in Nagaland, few weeks ago NSF and Govt spelled out the need to check the legal Indians in Nagaland and illegal immigrants residing in Nagaland. But the matter was closed as soon as the issue came out on the news. So far there is nothing happening for this matter. I wish to know what the present Govt is deciding as well as the NSF and other who were involved. Even the rest of the western and European nations are now spending millions of dollars to protect their citizens and their countries from invasiveness of illegal immigrants. The Indian Govt also now at the highest level has been concern for their citizens’ protection from illegal immigrants. Our immediate neighbouring state such as Manipur and Assam are taking a double measure to insure that the illegal are been deported to their original places so as to create better living and better understanding among their own people.
Nagaland state is a small community where this issue had been touched several times by the NSF and other public organizations. However, the state Govt had never taken concrete measure to support the demand of the students concern. Many a time the matters were left to decide by the student body. This is outrageous on the part of the state Govt. If the Govt politicians cannot give the clear direction and protect the citizens of this small state, why should you be there as a leader? Every one of you will not be a powerful person all your lives. As you can see from the new papers, where many Govt retired officers and politicians are writing to the Govt of their grievances. They should not be writing these pages should they act according to their assignments to help the public when time was given to them. It is unfortunate to read all these articles penned by these former powerful people in our societies. The State Govt must do their outmost to ensure the safety of the public from the illegal immigrants. Right now if any violence erupts in the state, we do not know who these people are. There is no information as to how we can book the murderer, rapist, cheaters once they leave the state. Because we do not know where they are from?
And therefore, we must know who our guests are? And what they do for living? Right now we do not even know who our laborers are; the police do not even know who is running a shop next to their posts.
We must bring out some modalities to control the influx of illegal immigrants in our state. Otherwise time is running out and we shall be in big trouble very soon. Invite leaders from Govt, Students body, police, paramilitary, politicians, business, church leaders, missionaries who lived in other countries etc.
As we put our heads together we shall be able to bring out democratic workable modalities without hurting people’s feeling and control the illegal immigrants menace in our societies.
